Packers pick Datone Jones in first round
Posted by on April 25, 2013 – 10:13 pmGREEN BAY–The Packers selected UCLA defensive end Datone Jones with the 26th pick of tonight’s NFL draft. Jones, 6-4, 280, registered 6.5 sacks and 19 tackles for loss last season. He is considered versatile enough to play in several schemes.
Jones was one of the standout players at the Senior Bowl and at the scouting combine this past winter. He immediately addresses the Packers’ need for young talent on an aging defensive line.
“His size, balance, explosiveness and pass-rush ability make him scheme and position-versatile,” one draft publication said of Jones.

McCarthy says Walden will start
Posted by on November 30, 2011 – 1:19 pmPackers Head Coach Mike McCarthy told reporters on Wednesday that linebacker Erik Walden will be in the starting lineup against the Giants in New York on Sunday.
“Erik Walden’s situation is under review. We respect that. Based on the information we have to date, Erik will play in the game. We’re respecting the process and collecting the information. I have every anticipation for Erik to start,” McCarthy said.
Walden was arrested last Friday in relation to a domestic incident.
