Pregame warmup: Brett Hundley expected to play
Posted by on August 18, 2016 – 5:55 pmGREEN BAY — Packers backup QB Brett Hundley hasn’t played in an actual game since the preseason finale last season, and he’s expected to get back to game action on Thursday night vs. Oakland at Lambeau Field.
Hundley missed more than a week of training camp with an ankle injury and returned to practice this past week. The injury forced him to miss last week’s game vs. Cleveland, and he would have missed the Hall of Fame Game as well, if it had been played.
Last year, Hundley compiled a 129.4 passer rating in the preseason, No. 2 in the NFL. That rapid development was a key reason the Packers felt comfortable letting last year’s top backup QB, Scott Tolzien leave in free agency. Hundley is now the solid No. 2, with Joe Callahan and Marquise Williams still battling for the No. 3 job, whether that be a spot on the active roster or the practice squad.
Weather update: It’s a near-perfect summer night in Green Bay. Temperatures are expected to be in the low 80s at kickoff, dropping into the 70s as the game continues. There’s a very small chance of rain, and minimal wind.
