McCarthy: WR Davante Adams not expected to practice until at least Saturday
Posted by on January 18, 2017 – 2:06 pmGREEN BAY — Packers WR Davante Adams isn’t expected to practice until at least Saturday, according to Head Coach Mike McCarthy.
Adams left briefly after injuring his ankle during Sunday’s 34-31 win over the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Divisional playoffs, but returned to the game and finished with five catches for 76 yards.
“We’ll see,” said McCarthy during his Wednesday afternoon news conference. “I’m curious to see him move.”
Packers WR Jordy Nelson (rib) and S Morgan Burnett (quad) will be part of the rehab group of Wednesday’s practice, according to McCarthy. Nelson sat out of last week’s game, while Burnett left in the first half of Sunday’s game in Dallas.
McCarthy said LT David Bakhtiari (knee) and RT Bryan Bulaga are expected to practice in limited capacity. He also added that CB Quinten Rollins is “getting close” to passing the concussion protocol.
The second-year cornerback has missed the last two games after being carted off the field in the regular-season finale against Detroit with a neck injury.

News now! Rookie WR Davante Adams makes a splash
Posted by on September 15, 2014 – 4:25 pmGREEN BAY — The Packers may have found another offensive weapon on Sunday, as rookie receiver Davante Adams recorded five catches for 50 yards in his first extensive NFL action.
“I thought Davante really stepped up,” Head Coach Mike McCarthy said on Monday in his day-after press conference. “You talk about a young man taking advantage of his opportunities — he made clutch catches, was strong after the catch. I thought he had a good day.”
Adams moved into the No. 3 receiver spot against the Jets after Jarrett Boykin dropped a pass over the middle in the red zone. Adams was a second-round draft pick out of Fresno State, and McCarthy said it didn’t take long to realize he has a potentially bright NFL future.
“I think he showed right away in training camp that he belongs, and that’s something you always look for,” McCarthy said. “Aaron Rodgers has a phrase, … there’s a ‘moment’ every player goes through when you know you belong here, and I think he had that early. It’s the normal progression of a young guy to get in tune with the quarterbacks … I thought he got better from Week 1 to Week 2.”
On the injury front, CB Micah Hyde’s knee injury does not appear to be serious. McCarthy said he expects Hyde to be fine. LB Andy Mulumba’s knee injury is “significant,” however.

Packers fortify wide receiver with selection of Davante Adams
Posted by on May 9, 2014 – 7:43 pmGREEN BAY–The Packers turned their attention to offense and the loss of James Jones in free agency by selecting Fresno State wide receiver Davante Adams with the 53rd pick of the 2014 NFL draft on Friday. Adams, 6-1, 212, is the Packers’ first pick of day two of the draft, after having selected safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in the first round on Thursday.
“Nice-sized possession wide out,” packers.com draft analyst Tony Pauline said of Adams. “Competes and wins out for contested balls. Strong and tough.”
Tight ends Troy Niklas and Jace Amaro came off the board within the previous four picks, and center Weston Richburg was selected 43rd overall by the Giants. Tight end, center and inside linebacker are considered to be positions of need for the Packers, but so were safety and wide receiver.
Adams ran a 4.56 40 at the combine.
