Left tackle, Tretter, Packers’ second pick of fourth round
Posted by on April 27, 2013 – 12:21 pmGREEN BAY–The Packers stayed with the big-guy theme with their second pick of the fourth round on Saturday, selecting left tackle J.C. Tretter of Cornell with the 25th pick of the fourth round, the 122nd overall selection.
Tretter, 6-4, 302, is likely a developmental prospect. He was a tight end as a sophomore at Cornell, moving to left tackle for the past two seasons. He has the frame to add size and strength.
One draft publication says Tretter is best-suited to play in an angles-blocking system, such as the Packers’ zone-blocking scheme. “Needs to spend a year in an NFL strength program before he is ready, but possesses the toughness, intelligence and competitiveness to develop into a fine pro,” the publication says.
