The top safety in the draft, and the only one thought to be a first-round talent, is off the board. Tampa Bay took Alabama’s Mark Barron at No. 7.
The Packers obviously need a safety with the release of Nick Collins, but there was little hope of Barron being on the board at No. 28. Interestingly, though, is no defensive linemen or outside linebackers have been taken yet, which is good news in terms of the Packers’ needs.
Miami, with former Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin as head coach and former head coach Mike Sherman as offensive coordinator, is now on the clock.
